Driving Change

POWERFUL.

Words have the ability to build up or destroy an individual, situation or idea, yet they are taken for granted. Education has drilled into our heads that more is better, using words like ‘elaborate’, or ‘expand’ when asked to reflect or describe something. However, later in life a shift takes place and adults begin to realize that less really can be more. It isn’t always how much you say, but how you say it that makes the difference. In the Power of Words video, the woman didn’t change the man’s message, she instead painted a different picture through her words. Subtle, but impactful was the reaction. With the BSGuys their approach looked at motivation minus the excessive amount of information. The less information, the stronger the message.

What I took from the videos is that the message, whatever it may be, will likely not be received if the delivery is overly clouded by excessive amounts of content. Additionally, to really draw a person in, we have to connect to their heart rather than their mind initially. While this is something that many people care not to admit, humans are emotional beings, naturally it makes sense to appeal to that side first, before shoving more information at them. This to me will yield results.
